Web design in Chorley

I'm a web designer and developer over in Burnley. I build fast, hand-coded websites for Chorley businesses — the kind that bring the phone to life, not the kind that just sit there looking neat.

Getting found in Chorley

Standing out in a market town

Chorley has always been a market town, and the trade that suits it best is exactly the sort that does well online — local people looking for someone local to do a job. When the Flat Iron's on, or when someone needs a plumber or a barber on a Tuesday, the search starts on a phone. The businesses that come up, and load quickly, are the ones that get the call.

That's the job a website is really there to do: be in the right place at the right moment and make getting in touch the obvious next step. That's what I build. Not a glossy brochure that sits doing nothing, but a site that earns its keep while you're out on a job or serving a customer.

I've built sites for service businesses across this part of Lancashire and beyond, so I've a fair idea what a small business actually needs from one. Most of the time that's the phone ringing more often — not thirty pages of text nobody reads to the end.

Why local helps

Working with someone close by

A lot of websites get put together by an agency a long way off, or through some online portal where you never actually speak to the person doing the work. It can turn out fine, but more often it means waiting days for a reply and ending up with a site that could belong to any town anywhere.

I'm in Burnley, a straightforward run across on the motorway. If you'd rather sit down with a brew and go through it, we can do that. And if you'd sooner keep the whole thing to phone and email, that's no problem — most jobs run that way anyway.

  • You deal with me — No account manager, no ticket system, no call centre. Email me and you get me back, not a holding message.
  • I know the area — I understand the customer a Chorley trade or shop is after, and the nearby towns like Leyland, Preston, Adlington and Euxton you probably want work from too.
  • Straight answers — If something isn't worth paying for, I'll tell you. I'd rather give you the honest version than sell you pages you'll never use.
  • Easy to reach — A quick question after launch doesn't become a support ticket. You can just ring or message me.

How I build

Quick to load, easy to update

I write every site by hand. There's no Wix or Squarespace drag-and-drop, and no WordPress theme propped up by a stack of plugins that slow it down and fall over the moment one of them updates. I use Laravel — the framework plenty of bigger firms run on — which keeps a site quick, secure, and easy to change down the line.

The phone comes first when I design, because that's how most people in Chorley will land on you. Pages load fast, read clearly, and steer people towards the thing that counts — ringing you, messaging you, or sending a short form. Nothing cluttering the way, nothing to scroll past to find the point.

Search gets thought about from the off, not bolted on at the end. I set each page up so Google can make sense of what you do and the area you cover, which is what gives you a fair shout at turning up for the "near me" searches around town. It isn't a trick and it isn't overnight, but it's done properly from the start.

Who it's for

The businesses I tend to help

Most of what I do is for small, local businesses that need people to find them and trust them online. If that's you, we'll get along. A few of the trades I build for again and again:

Trades

Plumbers, heating engineers, electricians, builders and joiners whose week is made or broken by the phone ringing.

Takeaways & restaurants

A menu you can actually read, easy directions, and an order or booking button that behaves on a phone.

Driving schools & instructors

Calm, reassuring sites with the prices set out plainly and booking only a tap away.

Garages & car services

MOTs, repairs, detailing — sites that show the standard of the work and make booking in simple.

Salons & barbers

A smart shopfront online that shows off the look, lists the prices, and puts the booking link where people expect it.

Professional services

Accountants, consultants and the like who need a site that looks settled and earns a bit of trust.

Recent work

A few sites I've built lately

None of these are in Chorley as it happens, but they're the same kind of local, service-led business, and the approach carries over just the same. Have a look at the live sites:

How it goes

From first chat to live site

01

A quick chat

Tell me about the business and what you'd want the site to do. It costs nothing and there's no hard sell at the end of it.

02

A fixed price

You get a clear figure and a sensible timeline, in writing, before I pick up a single tool.

03

Build it

I get on with the build and show you how it looks as it comes together, so the end result is never a shock.

04

Go live

I sort the launch, test it on real phones, and look after it from there if you want me to.

Questions

Web design in Chorley — the common questions

What does a website cost for a Chorley business?

It comes down to how big the site is and what you need it to do. A neat site for a single trade or a small shop usually starts in the low hundreds, and the price climbs if you want extras like online booking or a lot of pages. Either way I work out the job first and give you one fixed price in writing, so there are no surprises later.

Do I have to be in Chorley to use you?

Not at all. I'm in Burnley, which is a straightforward run across on the motorway, so I can come over and meet you if you'd sooner talk face to face. Most of a job is done over the phone, email and a preview link though, so plenty of clients I never need to meet in person.

Can you get my Chorley business showing up on Google?

It's one of the main reasons people get in touch. I build each site so Google can read what you do and where you do it, which gives you a proper chance of appearing when someone in Chorley searches for it. I won't promise you the top spot by Friday, but the foundations for it are there from the first day.

Will it work properly on a phone?

Yes, and that's where I start. Most people will find you on a phone, so I build for the small screen first and then size it up for laptops. It loads quickly and the call and message buttons sit where a thumb can reach them.

Can you rebuild a website I already have?

Usually, yes. If your site is slow, looks dated, or just isn't bringing the work in, I can redo it from the ground up. Where it's worth keeping, I'll hang on to the pages that already pull traffic from Google so you don't slip backwards while it's being improved.

Do you keep an eye on the site after it launches?

If that's what you want. Some people are happy to run it themselves once it's live, others would rather I handle the updates, backups and the odd change as things move on. There's an optional monthly arrangement for that, and you're not tied in.

Thinking about a website for your Chorley business?

Tell me what you're after and I'll come back with a clear, fixed quote. No pressure, and no jargon.
