Web design in Blackburn

I'm a web designer and developer based just up the road in Burnley. I build fast, hand-coded websites for Blackburn businesses — the sort that bring in enquiries rather than just sitting there looking tidy.

Getting found in Blackburn

Where your customers look first

Blackburn is one of the busier commercial towns in East Lancashire, which is good news and bad news. There's plenty of trade about, but there's plenty of competition for it too. When someone needs a plumber, a takeaway or a driving instructor, they reach for their phone and search — and the businesses that turn up, and load quickly, are the ones that get the call.

A website's job is to be there at that moment and make getting in touch the easy thing to do. That's what I build. Not a brochure that sits in a drawer, but a site that works for you while you're out on a job or busy with a customer.

I've built sites for service businesses across East Lancashire and further afield, so I know what a small business actually needs from one. Usually that's the phone ringing more often — not forty pages of waffle nobody reads.

Why local helps

Working with someone down the road

Plenty of websites get built by agencies miles away, or through a portal where you never speak to the person doing the work. That can work, but it often means slow replies and a site that could be for any town in the country.

I'm in Burnley, about fifteen minutes up the M65. If you'd rather sit down and talk it through over a coffee, we can. And if you'd rather keep it all over the phone and email, that's fine too — most projects run that way.

  • You deal with me — No account manager, no ticket queue, no call centre. When you email, you get me, and I reply.
  • I know the area — I understand the kind of customer a Blackburn trade or shop is after, and the nearby towns like Darwen and Accrington you probably want work from too.
  • Straight answers — If a feature isn't worth the money, I'll say so. I'd rather give you honest advice than sell you pages you don't need.
  • Easy to reach — A quick question after launch does not turn into a support ticket. You can just call or message me.

How I build

Coded properly, built to last

Every site I build is written by hand. No drag-and-drop builders like Wix, and no WordPress theme stuffed with twenty plugins that slow it down and break when one of them updates. I use Laravel, the same framework larger companies rely on, which keeps a site quick, secure and straightforward to change later.

I design for the phone first, because that's where most people in Blackburn will find you. The pages load fast, read clearly, and point people towards the one thing that matters — calling you, messaging you, or filling in a short form. Nothing in the way, nothing to scroll past.

Search isn't an afterthought either. I structure each page so Google can work out what you do and where you do it, which is what gives you a fair shot at showing up for "near me" searches around the town. It's not magic, and it's not instant, but it's done right from the start.

Who it's for

The businesses I tend to help

Most of my work is with small, local businesses that rely on people finding them and trusting them online. If that sounds like you, we'll get on fine. A few of the trades I build for regularly:

Trades

Plumbers, heating engineers, electricians, builders and joiners who live or die by the phone ringing.

Takeaways & restaurants

A clear menu, easy directions, and an order or booking button that works on a phone.

Driving schools & instructors

Calm, reassuring sites with prices laid out plainly and booking a tap away.

Garages & car services

MOTs, repairs, detailing — sites that show the standard of work and make it simple to book in.

Salons & barbers

A smart shopfront online that shows off the look, lists the prices, and puts the booking link where people can find it.

Professional services

Accountants, consultants and the like who need a site that looks established and earns trust.

Recent work

A few sites I've built lately

These aren't all in Blackburn, but they're the same sort of local, service-led business — and the same approach works just as well here. Have a look at the live sites:

Questions

Web design in Blackburn — the common questions

How much does a website cost for a Blackburn business?

It depends on the size of the site and what it needs to do. A tidy site for a small trade or shop tends to start in the low hundreds, and it goes up from there if you want things like online booking or a lot of pages. I quote every job properly up front, so you get a fixed price in writing before I start.

Do I need to be in Blackburn to work with you?

No. I'm based in Burnley, about fifteen minutes up the M65, so I'm happy to meet if you'd rather talk it through in person. That said, most of a project runs over the phone, email and a shared preview link, so plenty of my clients I never need to meet at all.

Can you help my Blackburn business show up on Google?

That's a big part of why people come to me. I build each site so Google can tell what you do and where you do it, which gives you a real chance of turning up when someone in Blackburn searches for it. Nobody can promise the top spot overnight, but the groundwork is there from day one.

Will the site work properly on a phone?

Yes, and I build it that way first. Most people will find you on their phone, so the site is designed for a small screen before anything else, then scaled up for laptops. It loads quickly and the call and message buttons are easy to reach with a thumb.

Can you redesign the website I already have?

Often, yes. If your current site is slow, dated, or just isn't bringing in enquiries, I can rebuild it. Where it makes sense I'll keep the pages that are already pulling in traffic from Google so you don't lose ground while we make it better.

Do you look after the site once it goes live?

If you want me to. Some clients are happy to take it from launch, others would rather I handle updates, backups and the odd change as the business moves on. There's an optional monthly arrangement for that, with no long tie-in.

Thinking about a website for your Blackburn business?

Tell me what you're after and I'll come back with a clear, fixed quote. No pressure, and no jargon.
